A Great Start

We are five days into a new school year and as of today we are all smiles! Thursday, the first day of school, Nolan didn't really know what to expect from school because he's never been before. He is the youngest in his class and that is a new experience too! To say my mama nerves were on edge all day is an understatement! He did pretty well his first day though! He had an issue with sharing but that was expected and a good little lesson to learn on your first day! I was worried about that next morning because he would fully understand what to expect at that point. We have gone to certain therapies in the past that didn't work out where he was fine until we pulled up and he realized where we were. . . then the tantrum or tears would come. To my amazement he did great on that second day and was exhausted the he got home!
Monday the kids got in the car and we headed for school just like the week before. Once we pulled in I noticed Nolan wasn't watching his IPAD anymore and was looking around. I parked the car and when I got him out he had those eyebrows down. That's his new thing when he's mad. He didn't resist though and went in with his teacher. She said he was a little homesick in the morning but then he got to make his first trip to the library and his day perked up! Nolan LOVES books! Especially books with characters it that he likes! I know he loved going to the library and bringing some books back to class! The past two days have been great! He tells me bye when he gets out. of the car and he's done great at school! Seems likes he's getting in the groove of things! I'm told he's getting along with the other kids in his class and they are doing great with him!
I am so proud when I see him walk in to school each day and so excited to see him when I pick him up! Never in a million years did I think I wanted to be a stay at home mom but I cannot imagine doing anything else! I wish I could be there when he visits the library, goes to the cafeteria, or learns things in his class; but God has blessed us with some amazing people that are in his life right now and that is the one thing that gives me peace to let him go each day! We can't wait to see how he grows this year!
As for little Miss Harper, Kindergarten had a tough start for her last year but 1st grade is her jam! She has walked in like she owns the place since her first day of school and LOVES her brother going to school with her now! I know there will be challenges and road bumps just like anything else in life but I'm grateful we've had a good start to school so far!
