Out of the Zone

My comfort zone is such a nice and cozy place. I don’t like to leave it very much. But who really does?

Writing comes natural to me. It is calming and a way to relieve stress. But to share it with the world is just the opposite.

I started out sharing our journey to make an easier way to update people on how Nolan was doing. Then I realized that so many people don’t really know what autism is and how to relate to someone who has it. I want to show others how wonderful and complicated it can be to raise a child with a disability. I also want to show those who are going through it that they aren’t alone.

The problem I have is that I’m an optimist. I’ve said it before; but picture Poppy from Trolls. That’s my attitude 99% of the time! I don’t like to focus on the negative or sometimes even the reality; so I don’t. I focus on the positive, hope for the best, and build up/encourage others. It’s just what I love to do. There is a problem here though when it comes to writing and sharing our story. It isn’t all rainbows and butterflies over here. But to share the true, 100% reality of our situation is hard. It’s tough because I have to think about it and be vulnerable. Who likes doing that? Ha!

I’ve talked to so many different people in the autism community and every single story affects me somehow. So, if I can help just one person to know Nolan better, help their child better, or just know they aren’t alone in this crazy world then I’ll tiptoe out of my little comfort zone.

I’m not really one to make New Year's resolutions. This year though, I want to shut down the negative thoughts, insecurities, and fear of the unknown, and get out of the zone.

Who's with me?

Also . . here's Nolan in his comfort zone! haha! Tight spot, popcorn, and youtube songs!
